This is a reading group for anyone who wants to better understand and appreciate the writings of James Joyce. Each week’s get-together will involve close reading and open discussion of a small section of the chosen text, kicking off with Ulysses and eventually taking on Finnegan’s Wake.
The group is led by Elizabeth Watkins, a philosopher based in Nottingham and lover of fiction. She is definitely not an expert in Joyce but someone who has long been keen to read and interpret his work with the help of other interested folk. Anyone who is curious to discover (or re-discover) this writer is welcome to come along.
The group will meet weekly at the Malt Cross, Nottingham, on a Wednesday, 7-8.30pm. The frequency and timings of the meetings can be changed later based on the requirements of regulars.
