Street Pastors

Street Pastors is a multi-denominational (lots of Christian churches) response to urban problems; over 70 volunteers representing 18 city churches go out onto the Streets of Nottingham on a Friday and Saturday between the hours of 10pm to 4am.
What do Street Pastors do?
A Street Pastor's purpose is to care for, love, support, protect, listen to and encourage vulnerable young people using the city for pleasure. That be an intoxicated young girl who needs to be helped home or talking down a fight or giving first aid or just listening to someone who is lost and burdened.
They are also there to give flip-flops to girls with no shoes; did you know that it costs the NHS about £2,000 to fix a girls feet who has cut them with glass? By giving away flip-flops which cost 60p a pair, we can prevent this and therefore save pain and also save the city money. We also give away bottled water and lollipops just because we care and drinking water throughout the night whilst you are drinking will help keep you rehydrated (no more bad hangovers).
What's involved?
Street Pastors volunteer one night a month from 10pm – 4am and go out in teams on 3 or 4 people. Each Street Pastor gets 12 sessions of training covering things such as First Aid, conflict management, listening and counselling, drugs and alcohol training, domestic abuse and victim support training.
